FD Roosevelt High School on South Cross Road in Staatsburg is part of the Hyde Park Central School District.

Hyde Park Police Chief Robert Benson told Mid-Hudson News that the student has been charged with felony criminal possession of a weapon, misdemeanor reckless endangerment, and unlawful possession of a weapon by a person under the age of 16, a juvenile delinquency offense.

The student was issued appearance tickets for a May appearance at the Dutchess County Probation Department which will make a determination on whether or not to send the case to Dutchess County Family Court.

Benson said “The quick action by the school administration and the Hyde Park Police Department School Resource Officer prevented a serious situation,” adding “The overall safety of all of the students is paramount.”
