POUGHKEEPSIE – Dutchess County Court Judge Ed McLoughlin sentenced a Poughkeepsie man to 23 years in prison for killing a man near Pershing Avenue Park in 2020.  The sentencing took place earlier in the week.

Lloyd Pinckney was 39 at the time he stabbed 29-year-old Edward Crowell to death on July 7, 2020.

Assistant District Attorney Andrea Long read statements from three of Crowell’s family members before McLoughlin called Pinckney a “murderous coward who literally stabbed someone in the back,” before announcing the sentence on the manslaughter charge.

Pinckney had entered a guilty plea on February 9, 2022.
