FISHKILL – Town Supervisor Ozzy Albra has used social media to introduce taxpayers to the $41,500 vehicle they have purchased for his office.  The 2021 all-electric Ford Mustang Mach-E has been in use for almost a year and only has approximately 200 miles on it, according to a Mid-Hudson News source.
Mid-Hudson News was told that the vehicle was rarely used by Albra because there was no charging station for it at town hall.  According to Ford, the vehicle can be charged with a 240-volt outlet, similar to the ones used for electric stoves.  To allow for more use of the Mustang, the town purchased a $15,000 charger for it and had it installed by the town’s buildings and grounds department.
The list price for the rear-wheel-drive vehicle is $55,000.  The town purchased it through a state contract, lowering the price to $49,000.  According to Albra, a staffer in the town’s Finance Department was able to obtain a $7,500 rebate, bringing the final cost to $41,500.  Added to the price of the charger, taxpayers will pay $56,500 for Albra’s official town vehicle.
“The Town of Fishkill has gone green, adding an electric vehicle to its fleet and installing an EV charging station at Town Hall,” said a post on the town’s Facebook page unveiling the vehicle.  The Mustang sports car replaces a 15-year-old Ford Explorer SUV.  It is the Town’s first electric vehicle purchase.
