TOWN OF NEWBURGH – A convoy of police officers drove to Amsterdam, New York on Sunday to escort the body of Town of Newburgh Police Officer DJ Romano home.
He was killed in a snowmobile accident in the Town of Web on Friday.
Upon their return to the Town of Newburgh, dozens of other first responders joined the procession to bring Romano’s body to Brooks Funeral Home in the City of Newburgh.
Romano’s obituary can be found HERE.
By the large number of officers who lined up outside the funeral home late Sunday afternoon, it was obvious that Officer Romano was well respected and loved by his peers.
The young officer leaves behind his wife Kate and two daughters, Adrianna, 2, and Alina, 1, according to his brother James Romano, who created a GoFundMe page in his brother’s memory.
