MAMAKATING –  A fire at 43 Elm Street destroyed a house that was under construction on Sunday morning.  The Mountain Lakes Camps fire required six fire departments to extinguish the blaze that began around 11 a.m.

The two-alarm fire was considered to be under control after two hours of work by firefighters from the Wurtsboro, Bloomingburg, Westbrookville, Summitville, Bullville, and Otisville departments.

There were no injuries to civilians or firefighters as a result of the fire.  The house was currently vacant due to the construction.  As a result, no tenants were displaced.  A squad from Mamakating EMS was on scene to treat any injuries that may have occurred.

The cause and origin of the fire are under investigation by the Sullivan County Fire Investigation Unit and the New York State Police.
