Teenager arrested for shooting a man on Main Street

POUGHKEEPSIE – City police arrested a suspect they say shot a man several times outside of a Main Street store on Tuesday evening.  The 19-year-old self-proclaimed gang member was arrested on Wednesday at approximately 4:50 p.m.and charged with Attempted Murder and two counts of Criminal Possession of a Weapon for the shooting.
The suspect, Nyzeem Robinson, was apprehended by officers assigned to the case.  Robinson is accused of shooting a 30-year-old Poughkeepsie resident in the abdomen multiple times.  The victim was taken to Mid Hudson Regional Hospital and underwent surgery for his wounds.  Police said the victim refused to cooperate with investigators to help identify the shooter.
Late Wednesday evening city police said Robinson was being held pending arraignment on the charges for Tuesday’s shooting.  He also has an outstanding warrant from a previous incident of Criminal Obstruction of Breathing and Endangering the Welfare of a Child.
