MOUNT VERNON – City police in Mount Vernon have arrested a 31-year-old local resident for the October 30 shooting of a 37-year-old Tuckahoe man.  The shooting occurred in the area of 120 East First Street in the early morning hours.

Mount Vernon Police detectives worked with the FBI Westchester Safe Streets Task Force on the case in which the Tuckahoe man had sustained a gunshot wound to the right shoulder.  The victim was treated at Jacobi Medical Center in the Bronx and ultimately released. The investigators determined that Mount Vernon resident Anthony Reese was the suspected shooter.

On Friday, November 12, a team of detectives and FBI special agents executed a search warrant at Reese’s home during which a loaded .45 caliber handgun was recovered. Reese was taken into custody without incident. The alleged shooter is scheduled to be arraigned in Mount Vernon City Court on assault and weapons possession charges.

Reese’s criminal history includes arrests for weapons possession, assault, and robbery, according to police officials.
