POUGHKEEPSIE – Following months of coordination between the Dutchess County Department of Emergency Response and the Federal Emergency Management Agency in the wake of Hurricane Ida, Dutchess County Executive Marcus Molinaro announced a series of Mobile Disaster Recovery Centers will be held with FEMA, the Small Business Administration, and other state and federal agencies for residents and businesses impacted by the storm to have their questions answered, receive help filing for Individual Assistance or applying for SBA loans, and check the status of their claim.
The deadline to apply for Individual Assistance is Monday, December 6, 2021.
Residents can attend any of the locations, the first of which will be in the Town of Wappinger today, November 4th, or register online at DisasterAssistance.gov or by calling FEMA at 800-621-3362.
FEMA Disaster Survivor Assistance teams are also going door-to-door throughout the county to assist with the registration process. DSA personnel are equipped with FEMA apparel and credentials and will identify themselves to homeowners.
The MDRCs will be open for walk-ins from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on the following schedule:
- Thursday, November 4th-Saturday, November 6th: Wappinger Town Hall, 20 Middlebush Road, Wappingers Falls
- Monday, November 8th-Wednesday, November 10th: Beacon Memorial Building, 413 Main Street, Beacon
- Friday, November 12th-Sunday, November 14th: Fishkill Town Hall, 807 State Route 52, Fishkill
Additional MDRCs are being planned for the towns of East Fishkill, Pawling, Dover, Amenia, and North East and the City of Poughkeepsie. The schedule will be updated on DutchessNY.gov as well as the county’s social media.
FEMA’s Individual Assistance program includes grants for repairs and for rent of alternative housing, low-interest disaster loans from the SBA and grants for other serious unmet needs. Learn more at fema.gov.
Dutchess County received a major disaster declaration late last month, following Hurricane Ida’s estimated $2.5 million in damage to public assets and municipal facilities. The county received the additional Individual Assistance declaration in October, which will help homeowners and businesses recover from more than an estimated $1 million worth of damage to private homes, apartments, and businesses so far.
