Fatal pedestrian-car accident in Sullivan County

WURTSBORO – State Police are investigating the Saturday night death of a pedestrian on Route 209 in the Town of Mamakating.

The man was reportedly struck and killed by a car at 11 p.m. on September 4, in the vicinity of the State Police barracks.

Members of the Mamakating First Aid Squad arrived at the scene to treat a male victim, said to be in his mid-50s who had been struck by a vehicle that fled the scene.

The Mamakating responders were assisted by the Town of Wallkill Paramedics and the Wurtsboro Fire Department.

The man was airlifted to Garnett Health where he succumbed to his injuries.
