Police investigate Town of Olive drowning

TOWN OF OLIVE – The Ulster County Sheriff’s Office is continuing to investigate the death of a 63-year-old Saugerties woman who was found at 38 Private Road 20 in the Olivebridge area in the Town of Olive.

Deputies were called to the scene around 8:30 a.m. on August 25 where they found Rose Mayhew-Moses dead. The preliminary investigation suggests she was visiting relatives and may have drowned in a body of water on the property, police said.

The sheriff’s office is being assisted by the Ulster County Medical Examiner’s Office, District Attorney’s Office, State Police Forensic Investigation Unit, as well as State Police from the Kingston, Ellenville and Catskill barracks and the Troop F Major Crimes Unit.

Also assisting were Town of Olive and Saugerties Police, New York City DEP Police and the Olive Fire Department.

The investigation is continuing.
