MIDDLETOWN – A double shooting outside a bar on Dolson  Avenue in Middletown last weekend remains under investigation and on Tuesday night, Police Chief John Ewanciw issued an appeal for residents to step forward if they have information about any criminal activity in the city.
The chief said often neighborhood residents have information that could lead to the resolution of criminal investigations and he would like to hear from them.

“We have heard the adage, it takes a village, and this is a great time to show it really does take a village to resolve problems and to foster good relationships and try to move through these types of things,” he said. “I would definitely love more community support. We are trying to resolve these problems. It is not just incidents such as these shootings; it is so many other things, quality of life issues, ATV issues, so on and so forth. A lot of time people in the community know who is involved and there is the reluctance to communicate with us.”

Middletown is not alone in that problem. Police in the cities of Poughkeepsie and Newburgh also often face criminal investigations with no support from the community or the victims of the crimes.
