KINGSTON – A Kingston man has been released on his own recognizance following his arrest on charges of criminal obstruction of breathing and unlawful imprisonment.

The Ulster County Sheriff’s Office arrested Christopher Briggs, 30, following a 2 p.m., April 3, incident.

Deputies were called to a physical domestic dispute in progress in the Town of Rosendale. The investigation alleged that during the incident, Briggs prevented a person from leaving by putting his hands around their throat which obstructed their breathing.

Briggs was arraigned in Rosendale Town Justice Court and released pending a future court appearance.
