GOSHEN – Orange County Legislator Michael Amo, who has been the only member of the Independence Party in the 21-member board, will be running this fall as a registered “blank.” The Independence Party lost ballot access because it failed to garner 150,000 voters in the last presidential election.

Amo, who is running unopposed, will also be seeking another line on the ballot.

“I have been endorsed by the Republican Party for this upcoming legislative election and I am now exploring the possibility of establishing an independent party for myself to run on so I can remain a viable third-party candidate in Orange County,” he said.

Amo’s District 1 includes the Village of Kiryas Joel and towns of Monroe, Palm Tree and Woodbury.
