CORNWALL – Two people were arrested on weapons possession charges following a traffic stop on the Thruway in the Town of Cornwall.
State Police stopped the vehicle around 8 p.m. on Saturday, February 6 and while interviewing the driver, established probable cause to search the vehicle and occupants.
Troopers discovered a loaded .45 caliber automatic handgun in the car. As a result, a 17-year-old and 18-year-old were charged with criminal possession of a weapon – a loaded firearm other than in a person’s home or business, and criminal possession of a firearm, both as felonies.
The 18-year-old will reappear in Cornwall Town Court while the 17-year-old will reappear before the Orange County Probation Supervision Unit.
