KINGSTON – The Ulster County DMV office is closed to the public for health and safety reasons, County Clerk Nina Postupack said Monday. The closure takes effect immediately and is in effect until January 7, 2021.

An employee in the county clerk’s office tested positive necessitating the closure.

“This closure is mandated by the CDC and we will do everything possible to ensure a safe, socially responsible reopening,” said Postupack. “In person services will be available on January 7 and we encourage our residents to use online and mail options, as well as the drop-box until then.”

Routine transactions may also be mailed to the Ulster County Clerk’s Office, PO Box 1800, Kingston, NY 12401.

The drop-box will be outside the back door of the County Office Building for plate surrenders and registration renewals.
