MIDDLETOWN – During a normal week, the food pantry at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church in Middletown provides groceries for 30 to 50 families. During COVID-19, that has jumped to 80 to 100.

Mission Director Millie Rivera-Velez and her volunteers are preparing everything from soup to nuts, breakfast cereal, and a variety of dry goods for families in need during the holiday season.

“This is a program of neighbors helping neighbors and trying to inspire hope where there might be little or none,” she said.

Rows of tables lined the social hall at the church on Monday as volunteers filled bags with groceries for those who are having difficulty in making ends meet.
