POUGHKEEPSIE – Dutchess County Legislator Barrington Atkins is hosting a seminar designed to introduce computer sciences to people age 13 – 20. The event is being held on the Zoom platform on Wednesday at 7:00 pm. Pre-registration is required and the information can be found here.
“Master The Mainframe ” is an initiative to get young people involved in computer science in the City of Poughkeepsie. Atkins is working with Misty Decker, Program Manager from IBM Z Academic Initiative so youth will have the opportunity to earn industry-recognized badges, access to an exclusive career development group, charity donations, cash prizes, t-shirts, and other recognition.
“Investing in our youth is a crucial component of a promising future. I believe in the City of Poughkeepsie youth. Equity is essential when it comes to education, career opportunities, access to resources, and more,” said Atkins.
Interested participants must submit the registration form by 6:00 pm on Wednesday. Once the registration is completed, participants can join in the seminar here.
