Three men arrested for illegal possession of handguns

TOWN OF WOODBURY – State Police arrested three men following a traffic stop on the Thruway in the Town of Woodbury.

The vehicle was stopped on December 9 at 1:20 a.m.

While interviewing the driver, probable cause was established to search the vehicle and the occupants.

The driver, Kolmarte Williams, 22, of Washington, DC, and two passengers, Clarence Sims, 20, of Perth Amboy, NJ and Jamal Jackson, 19, of Newark, NJ, were taken into custody after troopers found a loaded 9mm handgun with a magazine containing nine rounds and a Polymer80 receive and P80 slide in the vehicle. Police also found a large capacity magazine with 10 rounds of 9mm ammunition.

The three men were charged with criminal possession of a weapon – a loaded firearm other than in a person’s home or business, and criminal possession of a firearm, both as felonies, and a misdemeanor of unlawful possession of a large capacity ammunition feeding device.

They were arraigned and remanded to the Orange County Jail pending future court action.
