A lot of people learned about the entrepreneur Ilgar Allazovich Hajiyev when he became a major developer in Moscow and the region. Back in 2014, he founded the SDI Group to have a business in Russia related to the construction of roads, housing buildings, and complexes, shopping and business centers, as well as infrastructure facilities.
But only a few people know that before entering the Russian market, he had already carried out construction and organized the sale of building materials in countries such as Turkey, Ukraine, Uzbekistan, and Kazakhstan. He also became the largest entrepreneur and developer of the construction sector in Azerbaijan. His biography is closely intertwined with the formation of the economy of the independent republic. This was there that he sought to achieve success primarily.
From childhood, the future developer had business acumen. Immediately after graduating from school in Azerbaijan, he opened his first business – a small shop. He was only 17 years old, and by the age of nineteen Ilgar had earned his first million.
But Hajiyev became a “big player” in 1993 when Azerbaijan declared its independence. At that time, the newly formed republic was looking for support from small and medium-sized businesses. Ilgar Allazovich was inspired by the appeals of Heydar Aliyev. He asked dedicated and active entrepreneurs to help rebuild the economy and give people jobs.
Most businessmen did not dare to invest in an unstable republic, considering it unprofitable and too dangerous. And Hajiyev decided to respond to Aliyev’s call and he managed to succeed where the others showed cowardice.
By this time, he already had his own business for the supply of building materials, so he decided not to deviate from the construction sector and became interested in investing in residential real estate in Azerbaijan. At that time, people were in dire need of housing. There was an urgent need for an affordable and high-quality format of modern housing, which could be provided for new families.
An inspired businessman, armed with hard work and talent, spent several years trying to achieve the incredible thing. Because he was at the origins of the development of the modern construction business, he managed to achieve great success. He saw the full potential in time and in 2005 created the Accord Construction and Industrial Investment Corporation. In a few years, it became the largest developer in Azerbaijan. Already in 2008, the American respected Kazimir Foundation estimated the corporation at $ 4 billion.

The developer spent all this time not only making money but also helping in the development of small and medium-sized businesses. He became an honorary participant in business conferences, openly demonstrated the achievements and new developments of his company at industry exhibitions and congresses. Until 2019, inclusively, Ilgar Allazovich served as an adviser to the Ambassador of Azerbaijan to Russia Polad Bulbul-oglu. Also, he became the executive director of the All-Russian Azerbaijan Congress, the post of which he held until 2017.

Since its establishment in 2005, Hajiyev has done everything to ensure that Accord reaches the top. Ilgar is sure that half of the success of his business lies in the fact that he has always invested part of the proceeds in the intellectual, material, and technological development of the corporation. This is the introduction of the latest technologies in the production of building materials and the use of modern programs in the construction process. For example, the Accord is the first developer in Azerbaijan to apply the standards of the International Project Management Association (SGS) and receive the Certificate of Conformity to the ISO 9001-2000 Standard. This is a generally accepted international quality control system, which allows us to guarantee compliance with all standards in the production of building materials and construction.
In parallel, the Accord turned to outsource services. The management has agreed with a leading Austrian consulting company to receive professional advice in the construction of roads, bridges, and tunnels.
After lengthy negotiations with the developers, the corporation has introduced the most complex Primavera P6 software into its workflow. This software allows us to manage construction through the user interface, which increases the quality and speed of most work.
Also, an important role in the company is played by the concern to provide high-quality, comfortable, and safe jobs for Azerbaijanis. They adhere to the Code of Health, Safety, and Environmental Protection. “The safety of every employee is important to us, therefore we carefully monitor compliance with safety measures, and workers are maximally protected from accidents during the construction process,” says Ilgar Hajiyev in one of his interviews.

First of all, these were projects related to housing construction and the sale of apartments, the construction of infrastructure facilities in the republic, and social construction. It has played an important role in Azerbaijan in the production and processing of building materials such as concrete, crushed stone, granite, brick, cement, and metal structures.
