POUGHKEEPSIE – On Friday afternoon, Dutchess County’s Commissioner of Finance, Heidi Seelbach sent a letter to all county employees announcing that the county was going to be holding back one week of their pay in October, telling them to “Please adjust your financial planning accordingly.”

Several county employees were angered by the letter and raised a number of questions.  Many were wondering when they would be receiving the week’s money owed to them.  Mid-Hudson News learned that the employee would be receiving the third October paycheck later in December.

Seelbach said the change was necessary because “The county’s current payroll procedures have unrealistic time constraints which the county must now address.”

On Monday, County Executive Marcus Molinaro rescinded Seelbach’s decision.  In a follow-up letter to all employees, Molinaro said “I have rescinded the decision to change the paycheck delivery cycle announced on Friday.  The announcement of the paycheck change was not well-communicated.  It was an honest mistake and I apologize.”
