Senior cyclist killed by motorist

POUND RIDGE – On August 22, 2020, the New York State Police (NYSP) and the town of Pound Ridge Police Department investigated a fatal motor vehicle crash on High Ridge Road in the town of Pound Ridge.

According to the NYSP, at approximately 1:00 p.m. a 2014 Ford Econoline van, operated by Lorenzo Davis, age 33, of the Bronx, was traveling south on High Ridge Road, and for unknown reasons struck a bicyclist also traveling south on High Ridge Road.

The bicycle operator, Thomas Schultz, aged 70 years, of New Canaan, CT, was pronounced dead by a Pound Ridge Emergency Medical Technician after life-saving techniques were unsuccessful.

Pound Ridge Fire Department, the Westchester County Medical Examiner’s Office, and the Westchester County District Attorney’s Office all assisted with this incident.

This investigation remains ongoing.
