Newburgh warrant search yields assault rifle, ammo, drugs and arrests of two

NEWBURGH – A pre-dawn raid at a residence at 87 Carson Avenue in the City of Newburgh Thursday resulted in the arrests of two wanted people, drugs, an AK-style assault rifle with several loaded magazine, and over 1,200 envelopes with heroin and fentanyl.

The raid was in response to shots fired and gun incidents throughout the city.

The search uncovered 1,258 envelopes of heroin and fentanyl, the rifle and ammo, another box of .40 caliber ammo and miscellaneous drug paraphernalia and packaging materials.

Two Newburgh city residents inside the residence were taken into custody.

Robert Soto, 48, and Alicia Brown, 27, were found to have active parole warrants. They were processed and turned over to the Orange County Sheriff’s Office.

Soto also has two federal charges pending from this incident as well as an active felony drug warrant from New York City Police.
