STEWART AIRPORT – Delta Air Lines has announced that it will temporarily suspend service from New York Stewart International Airport because of COVID-19.

American Airlines and Jet Blue previously announced they would suspend operations at Stewart.

Now comes word that Delta will suspend flights from Newburgh beginning on Wednesday, May 13 to protect customers and employees while customer volume is significantly reduced.

“These changes will allow more of our frontline employees to minimize their COVID-19 exposure risk while ensuring convenient access to Delta’s network for those who must travel,” according to a statement from the airline.

Stewart passengers who must travel may use Delta flights at John F. Kennedy International Airport.

Delta is also suspending its flights from Westchester County Airport at White Plains and said travelers who normally use that facility may use Delta flights at LaGuardia Airport.

Delta’s service at both Stewart and Westchester will remain closed at least until September as the airline “continues to evaluate overall network needs.”

Delta has announced an 85 percent reduction in our second quarter schedule, which includes reductions of 80 percent in U.S. domestic capacity and 90 percent internationally.
