NEWBURGH – State Police say they do not know why Anthony Shipman III, 30,  of New Windsor was in the roadway of the northbound Thruway in the Town of Newburgh last Sunday morning.

He was struck by two different vehicles and killed around 1:20 a.m., troopers said Wednesday.

Police said David Kurtz, 48, of Walden was driving his 2020 Chevy Blazer northbound when he struck Shipman as he was in the roadway. Shipman was then struck by a 2007 Audi A6, driven by Daniel Delgado, 42, of New Windsor.

Neither driver was injured.

The accident was reconstructed by the State Police Troop F Reconstruction Unit. The crash remains under investigation.
