Dutchess County has first COVID-19 patient

Dutchess County Executive Marcus Molinaro, podium, announces the first positive COVID-19 case in the county

POUGHKEEPSIE – Dutchess County now has one case of a positive COVID 19 patient.

County officials said the individual is in quarantine at home.

They said the ill person did not have widespread contact with others so there is minimal public health risk.

County Executive Marcus Molinaro the county is following CDC and state health department regulations pertaining to the virus including no large public gatherings.

While Molinaro said people should wash their hands and use hand sanitizer and sneeze or cough into their sleeve.

But he said if you want to go to a store or restaurant, do so, but try to avoid contact with others.
