PEEKSKILL – Over 100 firefighters battled a three-alarm blaze late Sunday night that consumed a new 52-unit senior citizen housing complex on Route 202, Crompond Road.

Because of the intense amount of fire and heat, it was determined by incident command to set up a defensive attack.

A second ladder was called in to set up on Cayuga Drive and because of the large amount of water that was going to be needed to extinguish the fire, tanker trucks were called in from Continental Village, Yorktown, Croton, Millwood and Putnam Valley.

Mutual aid departments responding to assist were Lake Mohegan, Croton, and Buchanan. The Verplanck and Continental Village fire departments were on standby to cover the city and responded to two calls.

The cause of the fire is under investigation. There were no reports of injuries.
