Ulster announces welfare fraud arrests

KINGSTON – The Ulster County Sheriff’s Office has arrested Imani Heyward, 30, of Ellenville, on charges of felony welfare fraud, grand larceny and two counts of offering a false instrument for filing.

It is alleged she applied for and received SNAP benefits, then recertified for the SNAP benefits claiming three children lived in her household, when in fact the children had been living elsewhere in the custody and care of relatives. He was also charged with not revealing the fact that she was employed at the time, receiving $4,729 in SNAP benefits to which she was not entitled.

Kimberly Gary, 26, of Highland, was charged with felony offering a false instrument for filing and misdemeanor welfare fraud.

It is alleged she filed an application for and began receiving SNAP benefits for a child who does not live with her, but had been living with relatives. She received $696 in SNAP benefits to which she was not entitled.

Shawna Genosky, 46, and Ronald Searl, 51, of West Hurley were arrested and each charged with three counts of felony offering a false instrument for filing and a misdemeanor of welfare fraud. It was alleged the couple filed several applications for SNAP benefits, not disclosing the fact that Searl had been receiving self-employment income from his contracting business.
