NEWBURGH – The City of Newburgh has been granted $50,000 from the state for the rehabilitation of the Dutch Reformed Church.

Once the city council accepts the funding from the State Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation, the city will be required to provide a 50 percent match.

Portions of the roof have collapsed in recent years resulting in debris falling inside the stately structure.

The end goal of the city has been to secure the funding necessary to redevelop the building on Grand Street into a community center of sorts. Full stabilization and redevelopment of the structure is expected to cost millions.
