KINGSTON – Ulster County is experiencing an “unprecedented number of overdose cases” in the northern part of the county, particularly in Saugerties, Chief Assistant District Attorney Michael Kavanagh said on Thursday.

There were 12 overdoses in the Town of Hunter last weekend, he said.

“Evidence from the Ulster County overdoses suggests that two different packages containing specific stamps are tainted and contain fentanyl.

One package is a red colored stamp depicting a basketball player and the name Lebron under the photo.

The second is a blue colored stamp depicting two handguns and the words “Young Guns.”

Kavanagh urged addicted persons to call the county Mental Health/Substance Disorder Hotline at 800-662-4357, any time day or night.

Anyone with information about heroin in their community is asked to cal 845-340-3599. Calls may be kept confidential.
