POUGHKEEPSIE – The Dutchess County Sheriff’s Office identified the victim in the Sunday late night car crash on Route 55 in the Town of Pawling as a Pawling woman.

Police said Robin Shenitsky, 62, was pronounced dead at the scene.

She was driving a Honda Ridgeline that struck a Jeep driven by Jorge Rivera, 44, of Poughkeepsie head-on. Rivera was transported to MidHudson Regional Hospital by ambulance with life-threatening injuries, according to authorities.

The investigation is continuing, but the Dutchess County Sheriff’s Crash Investigation Unit said the primary factor appears to be failure to keep right on the part of Shenitsky.

Deputies were assisted at the scene by the State Police, Pawling Fire Department and Dutchess County Medical Examiner.

Anyone who may have information about the accident is asked to call the Dutchess County Sheriff’s Office at 845-486-3800 and speak with either Deputy Wilber or Deputy LeMere. The sheriff’s office tipline may also be used at 845-605-2783 or dcsotips@gmail.com.

All information will be kept confidential.
