PLEASANT VALLEY – A Pleasant Valley woman died late Saturday afternoon and investigators believe she was mauled by the family’s pet dogs.

State Police said Arlene Renna, 67, was found unconscious on the living room floor of her home by her husband when he came home around 4 p.m. on September 7. She died at the scene from her injuries.

Police said the wounds and circumstances were consistent with a dog attack.

The couple owns two coonhounds as pets in their home. Both dogs were secured by the Dutchess County SPCA. The fate of the dogs will be determined by a court judge.

No one else was home at the time of the attack and the investigation by the State Police found no indications of foul play.

The Dutchess County Medical Examiner and District Attorney’s Office also responded to assist with the investigation.
