WOODSTOCK – Woodstock Anniversary Weekend is being held in Bethel at the site of the original event in 1969, but there are other milestone anniversaries being celebrated around the region, and in particular, in Woodstock itself, some 40 miles away in Ulster County.

The Woodstock Artists Association and Museum is marking its 100th anniversary this year and its director, Janice LaMotta, noted they reflect all types of artwork from experimental to traditional and the association owes its success to the natural splendor of the area.

“Artists are still coming here because it’s such a beautiful region and the landscape is just as impactful on artists and others bringing people to the area as it did 100 years ago,” LaMotta said.

Other anniversaries being celebrated in Woodstock include the 90th for Colony Woodstock and the 20th for both the Woodstock Film Festival and Woodstock Artists in Residence.
