TOWN OF ULSTER – John A. Coleman Catholic High School in the Town of Ulster will shutter its doors next month and one notable alumnus is “deeply saddened.”

The school, which has seen a dramatic dip in enrollment, made the tough decision.

Ulster Town Supervisor James Quigley is a Coleman graduate.

”While it is not an unexpected happening because we are economically and demographically challenged in this community which makes it especially difficult to keep a private high school afloat. I did have a portion of hope in my heart that something could have been done positive to keep it open.”

Quigley prepared the financial blueprint when the Archdiocese pulled away from the school years ago. Back then, he said “the numbers on the paper didn’t support an active, bright future.”
