WHITE PLAINS – A Bronx man was sentenced Wednesday in Westchester County Court to three to five years in state prison on his guilty plea to assault and two counts of criminal possession of stolen property.

On October 7, 2017, a Bronxville police officer attempted to stop a car after recognizing a blue 2015 Toyota Camry that had been reported stolen.

The vehicle did not stop and the driver, Rasheed Campbell, 22, lost control as he turned onto Bronxville Road, ran up on a sidewalk, struck another vehicle and stairs, and then overturned. He fled on foot and a blood sample found on the driver side airbag was later traced to him.

In a separate incident on December 23, 2018, a Mount Vernon police officer located a reported stolen Mercedes-Benz in a parking lot. The officer approached and saw Campbell in the driver’s seat. He resisted arrest and injured the officer before he was taken into custody.

Police then found 13 bags of marijuana in Campbell’s underwear.

The injured officer received surgery for a ruptured tendon in his right arm.
