POUGHKEEPSIE – Thousands of tourists come to the Hudson Valley every year to take in all the natural beauty, historic venues, outdoor activities and more.

Dutchess Tourism wants to capitalize on the opportunities available to visitors from around the world and has hired a marketing representative in Germany to let travel agencies in Europe know what the county and the region have to offer.

Christian Zerbian spent this past week touring the region with Dawn Hopper, Dutchess Tourism’s director of tour and travel.

“It’s a perfect getaway destination for people who come, maybe for the second or third time to New York City. It’s just 90 minutes by train to Dutchess County and the Hudson Valley so it’s a very good opportunity to get some rest and see this beautiful destination,” he said.

Zerbian said they are targeting German tourists because they comprise one of the largest groups of Europeans that come to the US.

During his visit Zerbian visited the FDR Estate, the Walkway Over the Hudson, and the Rhinebeck Aerodrome, along other sights. He also spent time in Ulster and Orange counties.

As Hopper put it, visitors don’t know about county lines when they come to the Hudson Valley.
