COLDENHAM – Montgomery Town Police are investigating a fatal house fire at 282 Browns Road in the Coldenham Fire District area early Sunday morning.
The fire was called in around 1:30 a.m. with the second floor fully involved in flames and a report of persons trapped inside.
Police said the body of Michael O’Malley, 42, was located in a bedroom after the fire was extinguished. His dog also died in the fire.
The two-alarm fire brought out firefighters from Coldenham, Vails Gate, Montgomery, Winona Lake, Maybrook and Walden on standby.
The cause remains under investigation by Orange County fire investigators, Westchester County Arson K9 and Town of Montgomery Police.
