Pleasant Valley woman killed after getting out of car on road

TOWN OF WASHINGTON – State Police investigated a fatal accident on State Route 82 in the Town of Washington at about 9:15 Thursday night

Police found a car parked in the center the southbound lane on Route 82 near South Road.  The flashers were on.  The operator, Hope McLucas, 54, of Pleasant Valley, exited her vehicle possibly to attend to raccoons on or near the roadway and was standing in the northbound lane when she was struck and killed by a northbound car.   McLucas died at the scene.

This investigation remains on-going. As of Saturday, no criminal charges had been filed.

Millbrook Fire Department, Millbrook Ambulance Corp, and Mobile Life Paramedics were also on scene.
