Two metro New York men charged with drug possession on Taconic

CLAVERACK – Two New York metropolitan area men were arrested on Thursday, May 23 after they were stopped for a traffic violation at 4:50 p.m. while driving on the Taconic State Parkway in the Town of Claverack.

A search by State Police from the Claverack barracks led to the arrest of Benjamin Meyer, 24, of Brooklyn for a total of five counts of felony and misdemeanor criminal possession of a controlled substance, tampering with physical evidence, and criminal possession of marijuana.

Zachary Costantini, 20, of Levittown, was charged with a total of five felony and misdemeanor counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance and criminal possession of marijuana.

After the traffic stop, police recovered some 1.4 grams of psilocybin mushrooms, 140 grams of edible marijuana, 54 grams of marijuana, 65 LSD dosages, 2.75 grams of LSD candy, 2.6 grams of MDMA, two grams of Adderall, and 258 grams of concentrated cannabis.

During the incident, police said Meyer attempted to tamper with evidence to avoid prosecution.

Both men were remanded to the Columbia County Jail in lieu of $10,000 cash bail or $20,000 bond each.
