State Police continue to investigate 1988 murder of Sullivan County man

MONTICELLO – The State
Police at Liberty are continuing to investigate the 1988 murder of a Sullivan
County man.

James Neailis of Monticello was last seen on July 31, 1988 at the Down
Under Bar in Monticello.

His remains were found two weeks later on August 16.

His murder was believed to be drug related; his remains were found shortly
after a long-term narcotics investigation.

Neailis was a lifelong resident of Monticello and his last known place
of employment was the Arc of Sunshine Car Wash.

Troopers continue to follow all leads and have extensively interviewed
neighbors, co-workers, friends, family and members of the community.

Leads have taken the investigation throughout the state.

Anyone with information about Neailis’ death is asked to call Investigator
