TOWNN OF GOSHEN – The national salute to veterans who have gone on to their final reward came to Orange County on Thursday. Wreaths Across America raises funds to place a wreath at every veteran’s grave in participating communities.
In Goshen, a caravan of dozens of police cars and a few fire trucks escorted an 18-wheeler full of wreaths to the Orange County Veterans Cemetery.
County Veterans Services Director Christian Farrell said this is the second year they have participated in the program.
“The holiday season is important to families all across the country and what we want to make sure happens is that there is no veterans buries at the Orange County Veterans Memorial Cemetery that is forgotten. One way we can do that is to place a wreath at every grave marker there, and that’s more than 3,000,” Farrell said.
The wreaths will be placed at the graves following a ceremony this Saturday.
