Poughkeepsie man charged in November murder

POUGHKEEPSIE – A City of Poughkeepsie man has been charged in the
shooting death of another man in the city early last month.

Terry Cherry, 37, was arrested on November 5 by State Police after violating
the conditions of his parole.

He has been charged with murder in the death of Jaquain Johnson, 20, of
Poughkeepsie, on November 5.

Early on that morning, city police were called to a report of shots fired
in the area of Mill and Garden streets. Officers found Johnson lying in
the middle of the westbound lanes of the arterial highway. He was transported
to MidHudson Regional Hospital where he died the next day.
