Exactly one month before he carries out his official duties on Christmas Eve, Santa greeted
revelers in Mahopac Saturday night

MAHOPAC – Santa arrived in Putnam County a little early this year courtesy of the Mahopac and Mahopac Falls Fire Departments and the Greater Mahopac-Carmel Chamber of Commerce.
The jolly old fellow and Mrs. Claus were chauffeured to the Mahopac Chamber Park Saturday evening atop a fire truck to the cheers of hundreds, many bundled up in their holiday finery.
Santa told the Courier he was pleased to be in Mahopac: “I am here only two days after Thanksgiving because I have many other stops to make this year, visiting boys and girls.”
Mahopac FD Chief William Nikisher called the event “one of the highlights of the season for our members. We love seeing the smiling and exciting faces of the boys and girls when the sirens blare and the red lights flash on our engine as Santa arrives on the scene.”
Santa was in Carmel on Saturday evening, attending the Festival on the Lake celebration at the county seat.
