Man convicted in stabbing during election victory party

KINGSTON – An Ulster County Court jury convicted Jovan Wilkins, 26, of assault in the first degree, a felony for a stabbing that happened at a party.  Wilkins, a resident of  Lagrangeville, in Dutchess County, was charged by State Police on December 3, 2017 with felony assault in connection with the stabbing of a man during a house party purportedly celebrating the victory of a Dutchess County legislature candidate.
During the week-long trial jurors heard testimony from several medical investigators.
Wilkins is in the Ulster County Jail awaiting sentencing scheduled for January 18, 2019. He faces a maximum sentence of 25 years in state prison.
