GOSHEN – Orange County will construct a committal facility at the county veterans’ cemetery in the Town of Goshen.
The facility “will allow funerals to be conducted in a respectful and honorable manner in line with the traditions of our national cemetery,” said Senator John Bonacic, who secured $250,000 to help fund the project.
Construction is expected to begin in the spring 2019 and should be completed by the fall.
The 19-acre cemetery has 12,500 plots. Approximately 3,400 men and women are buried there including 2,700 veterans. About 250 burial services are held there each year.
