TOWN OF POUGHKEEPSIE – A residential structure at the rear of the property of the former Poughkeepsie Inn at 2611 South Road in the Arlington Fire District of the Town of Poughkeepsie destroyed the structure Monday night.
Arlington firefighters were dispatched for a report of smoke coming from a structure.  Two minutes later, firefighters were on the scene of the residential structure and found it engulfed in flames. The fire was ravaging the abandoned structure and the call was upgraded to a second alarm.
Arlington firefighters were assisted at the scene by the Poughkeepsie Fire Department while the New Hamburg, New Hackensack and Pleasant Valley fire departments relocated to cover Arlington stations.
Arlington Chief Tory Gallante said the blaze was brought under control in about 30 minutes with the structure sustaining severe damage. Gallante indicated that no civilians or firefighters were injured at the scene.
The Arlington Fire District Fire Investigation Division and the Town of Poughkeepsie Police Department are investigating the cause of the two-alarm fire.
