NEW YORK – The cities of White Plains, Mount Vernon and Newburgh are among 10 statewide that have been selected to receive phase two aid in the attorney general’s $11 million Responsible Investment and Strategic Enforcement – RISE – program.
Over the two years of the program, it is designed to assist in neighborhood revitalization to address blighted, vacant, or poorly maintained problem properties.
The latest round of awards will provide the municipalities with new resources and training to leverage their data into improved code enforcement practice and policy changes, and an opportunity to apply for innovation grants of up to $1 million to implement these strategies.
Money for the program comes from the attorney general’s office settlements with big banks.
