Ulster man accused of setting two fires

TOWN OF ULSTER – The Ulster Police Department arrested an East Kingston man Tuesday morning for arson.
On February 23, the Detective Division investigated a suspicious shed fire that occurred at 114 John Street in the hamlet of East Kingston.  On February 25, a second fire at the former East Kingston Methodist Church on Brigham Street occurred and was also suspicious. Through investigation police determined it was a single suspect involved.
Michael Watzka, 29, of East Kingston, was taken into custody on a superior
court arrest warrant and charged with two counts of arson and criminal
mischief, all felonies.  He was also charged with misdemeanor counts
of arson and criminal contempt.
Watzka is in the Ulster County Jail without bail.
The Ulster Police Department was assisted by the Ulster County District Attorney’s Office.
