KINGSTON – Mayor Steven
Noble unveiled the City of Kingston’s first three electric vehicle charging
stations on Friday. Two, at the waterfront and one in Midtown, are all
in municipal parking lots.
The devices are being made available to encourage electric-powered cars, the mayor said.
“We have a fleet of seven vehicles that we use for municipal purposes and more and more individuals are taking advantage of the state tax credits and purchasing these plug-in vehicles and we hope to be able to attract Kingstonians to plug in as well as tourists and visitors coming to Kingston to be able to visit our Midtown and Downtown business districts with these new charging stations,” Noble said.
State grants paid for the new devices, the first by the City of Kingston.
Ulster County Government also has charging stations at the county building in Kingston.
