Newburgh man electrocuted while trimming tree in Cornwall

CORNWALL-ON-HUDSON – A Newburgh man was electrocuted on Monday as he was trimming a tree in the Village of Cornwall-on-Hudson.    
Police Chief Steven Dixon said the victim, John Nuzzolo, 39, was subcontracted by Simply Stump Grinding and Tree Removal Company of Newburgh to assist in removing a large tree in front of 29 Maple Road in Cornwall-on-Hudson.
While performing the tree cutting work some 40 feet off the ground, Nuzzolo accidentally struck a live high-power line that was adjacent to the tree and was electrocuted. He was removed to the Orange County Medical’s Office for investigation.
Responding to the scene were Cornwall-on-Hudson Village Police, Cornwall Town Police, Cornwall Volunteer ambulance Corps. Storm King Fire Company and Central Hudson Gas and Electric.
The US Department of Labor’s Occupational Safety and Health Administration was notified of the incident.
