PORT JERVIS – A new public-use bicycle service station has been installed near the campground area of Elks Brox Park in Port Jervis.
The Dero Fixit station features all the materials needed to perform basic bike repairs and maintenance.
Attached by cables are several tools including screwdrivers, wrenches, and two tire levers. The station also includes a heavy-duty air pump.
The Port Jervis service station is free for public use.
Funding for the purchase came from a state Health Department grant –
Creating Healthy Schools and Communities – managed by the Orange
County Health and Planning departments.
The grant is aimed at reducing risk factors of obesity, diabetes, and other chronic diseases by increasing opportunities for daily physical activity in the Port Jervis, Middletown and Newburgh school districts.
